WITHIN THE ALBUM

What if arriving raised new questions?

Success is the second perspective in the diptych The Rise. Suburban Mirage, Invisible, and Crystal Driveways change the setting without settling the questions of the first chapter. In this fiction, moving into a different position is not enough to know what you want to preserve.

Brother from Another, Bonfire Nights, and Constellation Chronicles open up images of connection and memory. The title Success does not announce the band’s commercial success: it names a theme in the story. Each listener can look for their own definition of arrival.

Begin with Suburban Mirage, then bring this chapter together with Struggle to let the two journeys speak to one another.

Crystal driveways leading to my marble throne
Beverly Hills mansion where I reign alone
Sixteen car garage but I still want more

Living like a king behind these golden doors
Rodeo Drive shopping every other day
Dropping twenty thousand like it's child's play
Personal shopper knows my every preference
Credit cards platinum with no interference

Pool parties with celebrities and socialites
Champagne flowing underneath the city lights
Chef preparing meals I'll barely even taste
While the housekeepers clean up all my waste

Neighborhood watch is private security
Keeping out the problems and the poverty
Everyone's a surgeon or entertainment lawyer
Making millions while the rest work harder

Pop another bottle
Pop another deal
Pop another purchase
Nothing here feels real

Living in the bubble where the money flows
Crystal driveways and designer clothes
Beverly hills dreaming but my soul feels poor
Got everything i wanted but i still want more

Rodeo drive walking with my head up high
But underneath the surface i'm just asking why
Is this really living or just buying time?
In the golden prison of the paradigm

Tennis club memberships and country club fees
Talking stock portfolios underneath the trees
Everyone's discussing their kids' private schools
While the valet parks our cars like precious jewels

Charity galas where we spend to feel important
Tax write-offs masquerading as endorsement
Social climbing ladders made of dollar bills
Climbing to the top of Beverly Hills

Personal trainers and the plastic surgeons
Keeping up appearances through surgical emergencies
Botox parties and organic juice cleanses
Spending fortunes just to look like we're teenagers

Dinner reservations at the finest restaurants
But we're all too nervous to enjoy what we want
Afraid to show weakness, afraid to show pain
In this neighborhood where image is everything gained

Golden gates that lock me in as much as out
Sometimes I wonder what this life's about
Surrounded by luxury but feeling so alone
This mansion's just a castle made of glass and stone

Money can't buy happiness, that old cliché is true
But when you're living here, what else you gonna do?
The view from up here is beautiful but cold
Everything's for sale but nothing can be sold

Reality check in my walk-in closet
Designer labels can't fill the space that's hollow
Built an empire but forgot to build a home
Surrounded by people but I'm still alone

Housekeeper's kids go to public school downtown
While mine go private but they're always wearing frowns
The gardener works three jobs to make ends meet
While I complain my truffle pasta's not complete

Driving past the homeless on my way to yoga
In my Range Rover feeling like I'm playing poker
With cards I never earned and chips I didn't win
Living in a bubble that I can't break out of or get in

Crystal driveways reflect more than just the light
They show the emptiness behind the glamorous sight
Beverly Hills taught me that money ain't everything
But leaving this life behind's the hardest thing

Maybe true wealth is found in simple pleasures
Not in bank accounts or material treasures
But when you're living in this golden neighborhood
It's hard to remember what simple life once stood

For community and friendship that money can't buy
For genuine connections without a price tag high
Maybe someday I'll find what I'm looking for
Beyond these crystal driveways and golden doors

Walking away from the crystal driveways
Searching for something money can't replace

Living in the bubble where the money flows
Crystal driveways and designer clothes
Beverly hills dreaming but my soul feels poor
Got everything i wanted but i still want more

Rodeo drive walking with my head up high
But underneath the surface i'm just asking why
Is this really living or just buying time?
In the golden prison of the paradigm
